I've updated the FAQs, and I'll be adding more as and when I need to. If you have a question that's not answered in this thread, post it here or elsewhere in Red Arrow.

How do I register?
Just click on the ‘register’ button in the menu bar and fill in the required details. It’s free and it only takes a few seconds.
How do I log in/out?
Similar to registering: click on the ‘login’ button and enter your username and password. To log out, just click the ‘logout’ button and you’ll be automatically signed out of your account.
I haven’t received a password/I’ve forgotten my password.
It usually takes just a few seconds for an email to arrive with your password. If it’s taking more than a few hours, get hold of me and let me know, and I’ll set up a password for you. If you’ve forgotten your password, go to login as usual and click the ‘forgot your password’ link to the side of the password box. Your password will be emailed to you.
How do I change my password?
Go to your profile: below your username is the option to change your password. Simply fill in your chosen password and save your profile. You’ll need to login again afterwards, though.
I’m a Traveller and I can’t post.
That’s right, we don’t allow you to post unless you are a citizen of the site. This stops people posting random comments on our boards and us not being able to stop them. If you want to take part in a discussion, you can register with us for free, or you can leave a comment in our Guestbook.
How do I view someone’s profile?
Just click on their username, on one of the boards or in the citizens’ list, and it’ll bring up their profile. Note: travellers are not allowed to view a citizen’s profile.
What is a PM?
PM stands for Private scroll. This is a scroll you can send to any citizen on the board, similar to an email, and only they can read it. You can check for PMs in your inbox, which you can view by clicking the ‘scrolls’ link in the top banner.
How do I send a PM?
There are two ways: - go to the profile of the citizen you wish to PM. Scroll down to the end, and you will see the link for the option to send a PM. - click on the PM button in their mini profile to the left of their posts.
I want to stop receiving notifications of replies to a topic.
Click on the ‘notify’ button in the menu bar. This will bring up a checklist of every topic you receive notifications for. Just tick the ones you don’t want to be notified for and click ‘update’.
I want to change my username.
Simply go to your profile, scroll down to where it says ‘Name’ and type in your new name. This does not change your login name, just the name that is displayed when you post or browse the forums. Also, take note that you still have to use the login name when sending a PM.
How can I change my avatar?
This is done in your profile. Read here for details.
How do I change my personal title?
Only admin can change your title, and only for a special reason. Your title changes automatically with your post count. The titles are as follows:
Door Warden ~ 0+ posts Apprentice ~ 30+ posts Scribe ~ 80+ posts Herald ~ 150+ posts Soldier of Gondor ~ 300+ posts Lieutenant of Gondor ~ 550+ posts Knight of Gondor ~ 700+ posts Guard of the Citadel ~ 850+ posts Captain Of The White Tower ~ 600+ posts
When you reach 1000+ posts, you are eligible for a custom title
I’m having trouble with my account.
If something’s not working, such as not being able to log in or post, contact the site and we’ll see what we can do. We may be required to login to your account to see the problem ourselves, we’ll simply change your password (so you can keep your own password private) and send it to you so you can login after. If there’s nothing we can do to fix your account, we’ll create a new one for you. This will not affect your post count and title; we’ll simply add it back in.
Can I become a moderator/admin?
Not unless we appoint you. You can apply at any time, but we will advertise if we are looking for moderators. To be a moderator you should be active on the forums and show you are a good poster.
For more details, please go here.
This link’s not working. What do I do?
Report it to the site, and we’ll have it fixed as soon as possible. Make sure you specify which link, ie. which post/board it’s in. It’s usually just a case of a topic having been moved.
The same goes for any other technical site problems. Just let us know what it is and where, and we’ll look into it straight away.
The Boards
RPGs
Anyone can join anything unless we specifically say otherwise. For the RPGs, you’ll need to give details of your character/storyline before joining, but you don’t need to apply to a moderator.
Quizzes
Anyone can join a quiz, but please follow the guidelines and answer appropriately. Most of the quizzes have specific ways of answering or turn-taking, so stick to these.
Discussions
The discussions in general are open to anyone and everyone, as long as you keep to the topic and don’t post for the sake of it. Try and give a reasonable, ‘full’ answer, not one that just says “lol, that’s good” and leave it at that.
Languages
This is also open to anyone who is interested. If you have a language question/problem/need translation help then you’re welcome to ask. We try and give structured lessons or lists, so if you want to contribute make sure it’s not a random selection of words or a duplicate of the material we already have. And you must give a translation.
Competitions
These are organised specifically by the site, and are not randomly started. Please do not start your own competitions. If you have a contest idea, please submit it and we will credit you when we open it. If you want to run a mini competition, you can apply to us for permission.
